Opposing Forces
This teaser for "Opposing Forces" from the podcast The Moth is about finding growth amidst life-or-death circumstances. The sequence focuses on the moment when Martha realized that, despite their differences, everyone’s all the same when faced with war. The rifle serves as a symbol of the brutality of war where lives were at stake. On the other hand, the morning glory symbolizes humanity’s strength and determination to preserve the beauty of life. In the end, Martha learns the preciousness of life and hope in humanity despite the violence around her.
Process
I explored different styles of illustrations (line drawing and lineless, risograph-like style), slogans, and layouts and compositions to enhance the storytelling of the sequence.
